Amanda Sharp
Founder and Primary Consultant

Amanda Sharp (MBA) has two decades of successful leadership experience in community services.

​

As a former County Department head and Social Services Director having worked in three California counties, she maintains longstanding relationships with other agency directors, associations, community action agencies, government agencies, and advocates.

​

Amanda started her career leveraging the power of partnerships to improve the local economy and develop a robust workforce. Her work experience evolved to include community service program design for housing, employment, education, workforce development, social services, federal benefits programs, and community action programs. She now helps agencies and organizations learn, develop, improve, and grow to serve those in need more effectively. ​

Amanda understands boards and governance. She previously served both the staff liaison to several boards, and as a board member for the United Way, the Child and Family Policy Institute of California, and as Vice President of the California County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA). She has experience as both funder and grant recipient among local service providers and nonprofits. She has also served on Juvenile Justice, First Five, and Tax Increment Financing/Economic Development commissions in three counties and in two states. Amanda’s experience with funding is vast including foundation and corporate, grants, state, and federal funding programs.

Her broad experience includes In-Home Supportive Services and Public Authority, Adult and Children’s Protective Services, Veterans Services, Community Action, Housing Authority, Homeless and Housing Services, Whole Person Care, Wraparound services, CalWORKs (TANF) and Welfare to Work, Medi-Cal (Medicaid) and CalFresh (SNAP). As an agency director, she managed budgets in excess of $350,000,000 with more than 1,200 staff.

 

As the chair of the legislative committee, and throughout her tenure as a board member at CWDA, Amanda has helped influence the design of many social welfare programs. Several of the innovative county-administered programs she designed were recognized by the National Association of Counties (NACO) and the California State Association of Counties (CSAC).

With decades of experience as a Director, she recognizes the importance of meeting expectations on time and within budget. Amanda uses a strengths-based approach to consulting, training, and human development. Her workforce development programs engage teams and improve staff retention. She has worked with multiple agencies assisting with recruitment strategies to find mission-driven employees whose values align with their organization. She enjoys working with governing and advisory boards helping them succeed and with agency leaders advising on how to improve and share their program outcomes.

 

She is creative and engaging in team meetings and strategy sessions helping new leaders, employees, and board members reconnect to the mission and find new ways to succeed in service to others.
